DESMOPRESSIN 01 MG ML SPRAY - NASAL DDAVP side effects medical uses and drug interactions

Desmopressin 0.1 mg/ml Spray – Nasal, DDAVP

Medication Uses: Desmopressin controls urine production. It replaces low levels of vasopressin, a substance that controls urine production in the body. This medication helps control increased thirst, excessive urination, and dehydration in conditions such as "water diabetes" (diabetes insipidus), certain head injuries, or brain surgeries. It is no longer indicated for controlling nighttime bedwetting in children due to the risk of low sodium levels in the blood.

How To Use: Read the Patient Information Leaflet and instructions before using desmopressin. Prime the bottle if it is your first time using it or if it has been more than a week since your last use. Spray the medication in the nose, usually 1 to 3 times a day as directed by your doctor. For doses greater than 1 spray, divide the dose between both nostrils. Keep track of the number of sprays used and discard the container after reaching the specified number. Children should be supervised when using this medication. Limit fluid intake while using this medication, especially in children and older adults. Follow the prescribed dosage and use the medication regularly. Consult your doctor if your condition does not improve or if the medication stops working well.

Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, runny/stuffy nose, nausea, upset stomach, and flushing of the face. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist. Seek immediate medical attention in case of serious symptoms such as low sodium levels in the blood, severe allergic reactions, or overdose symptoms. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. Consult your doctor for more information.
