Medication Uses: This medication is used to treat inflammation of the eye after cataract surgery. It can also relieve pain and sensitivity to light after corneal refractive surgery. Diclofenac is classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Other Uses: This drug may also be used to treat inflammation or injury-related swelling in the eye caused by other conditions.
How To Use: Apply this medication to the affected eye as directed by your doctor. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for sterilizing and using contact lenses. To apply the eye drops, tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to create a pocket. Place one drop into the pocket, look downward, close your eyes, and apply gentle pressure to the corner of your eye to prevent draining. Repeat if necessary. Do not rinse the dropper, and discard single-use units after one use. Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before using other eye medications.
Side Effects: Temporary stinging/burning, blurred vision, and watery eyes may occur. Inform your doctor promptly if these side effects persist or worsen. Serious side effects such as eye pain, decreased vision, or eye bleeding are rare but should be reported immediately. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a serious allergic reaction. Contact your doctor or pharmacist for more information about possible side effects.
Precautions: Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to this medication or have any other allergies. Discuss your medical history, especially if you have asthma, nasal polyps, clotting problems, other eye conditions, diabetes, or rheumatoid arthritis. Do not drive or operate machinery until you have clear vision. Before surgery, inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you use. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only if necessary, and it is not recommended during the first and last trimesters. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
