Clotrimazole/Betamethasone – Topical, Lotrisone
Medication Uses:This combination medication treats inflamed fungal skin infections such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, and jock itch. It contains clotrimazole, an antifungal that prevents fungus growth, and betamethasone, a corticosteroid that reduces swelling, redness, and itching. Not recommended for children under 17 or for diaper rash.
How To Use: Read the Patient Information Leaflet before starting this medication. Use the lotion form by shaking the bottle well and applying a thin layer to clean, dry skin twice daily or as directed. Do not wrap, cover, or bandage the area unless directed. Wear loose-fitting clothes after applying to the groin area. Do not apply to the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. Use regularly until the prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear. Inform your doctor if your condition worsens or does not improve after treatment.
Side Effects: Burning, tingling, dry skin, or stinging may occur. Notify your doctor if these effects persist or worsen. Serious side effects, although rare, may include extreme hair growth, skin thinning/discoloration, acne, stretch marks, and folliculitis. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a serious allergic reaction.
Precautions: Inform your doctor or pharmacist of any allergies and medical history, especially immune system problems and poor blood circulation. Use caution if using this medication on the elderly. Inform your doctor if you are undergoing surgery or emergency treatment. Prolonged use of corticosteroid medications may make it more difficult for your body to respond to physical stress. Use in pregnant or breastfeeding women is not recommended.
Drug Interactions: Consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding possible drug interactions. Keep a list of all medications you use and share it with your healthcare providers.
Overdose: If swallowing or overdose is suspected, seek immediate medical attention.

Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.
